Lakes of Bella Terra’s young residents are headed back to school this week! We’re proud that they are attending some of the best in Lamar CISD, like our local elementary school. Hubenak Elementary has been spotlighted for numerous achievements and has an outstanding reputation. Here are some examples….
Hubenak Elementary is rated 10/10 on greatschools.org – far above average in school quality compared to other schools in Texas. Students here perform above average on state tests, are making above average year-over-year academic improvement, and this school has above average results in how well it’s serving disadvantaged students.
According to Children at Risk’s website, Hubenak Elementary School achieved an A+ rating and a ranking of #43 in the region (out of over 900) and number 152 in the state! The organization’s evaluations take into account how well schools support economically disadvantaged students, annual test scores and year-over-year growth and, for high school evaluations, college and career readiness.
State accountability ratings released by the Texas Education Agency showed that Hubenak Elementary pulled some of the most impressive scores in the district. They earned a total of 5 out of 6 TEA Distinction Designations for the 2017-18 school year.
Ernie Bainbridge was recently named the new principal of Hubenak Elementary. A graduate of the University of Houston, Bainbridge has his masters from the Lamar University. Bainbridge is currently the assistant principal at Hubenak Elementary and previously served as the assistant principal of Walnut Bend Elementary in Houston ISD. Prior to becoming an administrator, Bainbridge taught reading, writing, art and social studies at the elementary and middle school levels.
Here are a few things parents of students at Hubenak have to say.
“This is the first year at Hubenak for our 4th and 5th grader. We absolutely love it! The teachers go above and beyond to communicate any weaknesses and area of improvements for our children, as well as compliment their strengths. Wonderful PTA and the front office has always been courteous and considerate of our needs.”
“My son is 3rd grader GT student. He really enjoy his school everyday and learn new things. His class class teacher Is so good . I like the principal and other office workers too. All they are so friendly and helpful. I also like the PTA guardian authority. It's a good neighborhood exemplary school with well behaved kids. My son always do well and get A/A+ marks. I appreciate and highly recommend this school. It's a humongous size elementary school with nice look.”
“We moved to Texas from out of state so my daughter transferred over to Hubenak in December. So far the transition has been wonderful. It's safe to say I'm very happy with the school. The staff and teachers have been very helpful and friendly. My daughter loves her teacher and the students seem to be so polite and well behaved. (I pick up and drop off my daughter everyday and I occasionally join my daughter for lunch, so I get to observe the students.) I couldn't ask for ask for things to turn out better.”
