Community Schools Perform Well Above Average

We are pleased to share that community campuses have received high ratings each year and have been recognized as performing above average by GreatSchools.

GreatSchools. provides school information and resources to help millions of American families choose the right school, support learning at home, and guide their children to great futures. These rating calculations are a summary of five of the school’s themed ratings — Test Score Rating, Student or Academic Progress Rating, College Readiness Rating, Equity Rating and Advanced Courses Rating, following a 1-10 scale where 10 is the highest.

Joe Hubenak Elementary School – Ranked 10/10

This school is rated above average in school quality compared to other schools in the state. Students here perform above average on state tests, are making above average year-over-year academic improvement, and this school has above average results in how well it’s serving disadvantaged students.

Hubenak Elementary was also recognized for class diversity with 35% white, 26% Hispanic, 24% black, 12% Asian and 5% other. Studies show that diversity in school leads to long-term benefits for students!

Test scores suggest that most students at this school are performing at or above grade level.

  • Reading: 75% versus state average of 44%
  • Math: 83% versus state average of 47%
  • Science: 81% versus state average of 41% 

Leaman Junior High School – Ranked 9/10 

This school is rated above average in school quality compared to other schools in the state. Students here perform above average on state tests, are making above average year-over-year academic improvement, and more information about this school can be found below.

Leaman Junior High was given a “promising sign” as test scores for low income students at this school are above the state average for all students.

Overall test scores suggest that most students at this school are performing at or above grade level.

  • Reading: 62% versus state average of 41%
  • Math: 72% versus state average of 41%
  • Science: 62% versus state average of 46%

Fulshear High School – Ranked 7/10

Fulshear High was given a “promising sign” as students at this school are making more academic progress given where they were last year, compared to similar students in the state. 

Test scores at this school are above the state average.

  • Biology: 82% versus state average of 59%
  • Algebra: 68% versus state average of 50%
  • History: 100% versus state average of 67%
  • English: 64% versus state average of 44% 

In addition, according to the 2017 state accountability ratings released by the Texas Education Agency, Fulshear High School, Leaman Junior High and Joe Hubenak Elementary each scored higher than the targeted score for every index evaluated.
