What’s better than a brand new home? A new home that is surrounded by nature!
They say that one of the best-kept secrets in Fort Bend County is its network of jogging trails. And while Lakes of Bella Terra is home to our own trail system that ranges from .3 to 2 miles, it’s also nice to get out and explore the surrounding area. We’re so glad that Fort Bend Lifestyle & Homes shared this list of the most popular, easy-to-access trails in our area. Here are a few of our favorites from the article.
Oyster Creek Park Trail (4033 Highway 6, Sugar Land 77478)
Oyster Creek Park is easily one of the most popular parks in the Fort Bend area. With ample parking, recreation and trail facilities, it’s the first choice for many residents looking to spend some time outdoors. The paved jogging trails connect to Lexington Blvd., Dulles Ave. and Highway 6, where the parking lot is located. If the 3-mile trail isn’t challenging enough, runners can easily connect to Lexington Blvd. or Dulles Ave. to enjoy the shaded sidewalks. The trails are predictably more crowded on evenings and weekends, but joggers rarely have to contend with foot traffic like that found in Memorial Park or the Rice loop.
Sugar Land Memorial Park and Brazos River Corridor (15300 University Blvd., Sugar Land 77479)
Yes, you read those numbers correctly. The central part of Fort Bend features a system of trails near the University of Houston Sugar Land campus. The main trail is the University Blvd. Trail that extends for 3 miles. Although it does not currently offer shade or other amenities, the trail is flanked by fields on either side that have been marked for further development, and connects to the Brindley Trail and the Brazos River Park Trail, which together constitute the first phase of Sugar Land Memorial Park. Brindley Trail is a beginning-to-intermediate bike trail that offers several wooden challenges along its 1.3 mile path. The Brazos River Park Trail extends 2.25 miles and will feature additional amenities as the park continues to develop along the Brazos River.
Brazos Bend State Park (21901 FM 762, Needville 77461)
Although it may be too far of a drive for runners interested in making it part of their regular workout routine, Brazos Bend offers several trails of varying lengths and difficulty for the adventuresome pedestrian. Trails extend along Elm Lake, Hale Lake, Creekfield Lake and 40 Acre Lake, as well as along the perimeter of the campgrounds and the park itself. The crushed gravel trails are mixed-use and are accessible by foot or horseback. While the trails range from moderate to challenging, runners are encouraged to slow down to enjoy the scenery and to be wary of the alligators that can be found throughout the park. Alligators, birds and other wildlife can be easily seen from any trail. Since the park includes prairie, swamp and forest areas, the trails range from fully shaded to open, but the breeze from the lakes ensures that the temperature never gets too oppressive.
