According to a recent article by Covering Katy, a luxury shopping center will be built just 2.5 miles from Lakes of Bella Terra. 

The Katy area’s most upscale shopping center will soon be coming to the south side of the Westpark Tollway near Peek Road, just east of the Grand Parkway. It will be called District-West and will be built directly south of Cinco Ranch in Richmond.

Phase I of District-West will be open mid-to-late 2018 with approximately 70,000 square feet of patio restaurants, shopping, and manicured greenspace areas for family outings,” says the shopping center’s website.

Corey Ferguson and Bobby Ferguson, Jr. of Parkway Lakes Development are co-developing the project. Kristen Barker of Wulfe & Co., is the broker.

Parkway Lakes is billing the development as being similar to CityCenter which is located at the Katy Freeway and Beltway 8. The first phase is expected to open in the summer of 2018.

Kelsey Seybold has already opened one of its regional clinics along Westpark, and Star Cinema Grill will break ground on its new 48,000 square foot ten screen facility next month. Both of those businesses will be part of District-West.

The facility will have plenty of parking with no parking garages.

According to the Houson Business Journal, so far, nearly 30 percent of the retail space has been pre-leased. The report says Whiskey River, a 15,000-square-foot country dance hall and grill is one of the businesses that will locate at the new shopping venue.

Parkway Lakes is also reportedly in talks with another hospital system to open a 75-bed hospital in 10 acres in the development.
