We love when two great things come together. Which is why we are pleased to share that one of our top builders, Chesmar Homes, has launched construction of their sixth Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) Benefit Home, according to a recent press release.
The Benefit Homes Project mission is to ensure a brighter future for the community’s less fortunate, through the heart and hands of the homebuilding industry. Over the life of the program the GHBA has donated more than $11 million to local charities including HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home—both local Houston charities.
Chesmar Homes along with dozens of commitments by local vendors and suppliers are working to building the home at minimal cost. It will be sold at market value and a majority of the profit will be donated to charity. This Benefit Home is the 2,746-square-foot Mesquite plan that features a two-story design featuring four bedrooms with a fifth bedroom/study option, three baths, walk-in closets, a game room, an island kitchen and a two-story open family room off the kitchen.
Vendors and suppliers who have committed their donations include Allpoints Surveying, Ellen Lighting & Hardware, Builders Post-Tension, PPG Paints, Lewis & Partners, Action Landscaping, Trus Joist/Weyerhaeuser, Meridian Brick, 1st Infinity, James Hardie, Surface Systems, Emerald Masonary, AHI Supply, Hurricane Construction and Hart Lumber, Austin Windstorm, MTW Pipeworks, GE Appliances, Lanehart Electric, Builders First Source and All About Concrete.
Hundreds of GHBA members have participated in the Benefit Homes Project throughout its 39 year history. Two to three homes are built with donated materials, labor, services and time. Not one year has gone by since then, that GHBA’s generous vendors/suppliers and trades have not made this happen. Everything from the land, surveys, construction and closings have been donated. The companies that participate range from large national organizations, to local one-man operations.
