Thinking about buying a new home in Fort Bend County? Residents of Richmond enjoy a rich quality of life. Richmond's low cost of living mixed with a high performing school district, tree-lined historic streets, master planned communities, and the sweeping bends of the Brazos River have created an unparalleled quality of life.

According to a recent press release, the City of Richmond officially accepted its award for Platinum Scenic City at the Texas Municipal League’s Annual Conference in San Antonio. Richmond had ‘ranked up’ to Platinum level certification, the highest level achieved through the Scenic City Certification Program, having received Bronze certification in 2016.

The Scenic City Program supports and recognizes cities for commitment to high-quality scenic standards for public roadways and public spaces. Cities apply to the program for a rigorous evaluation and scoring of existing municipal standards against the model, and those with the highest evaluation scores earn certification. Any Texas city can apply to the Scenic City Certification Program for an objective review of its existing municipal infrastructure ordinances and how they compare to model standards. The Scenic City Certification Program awards annually and, if certified, allows cities access to a valuable diagnostic tool as well.

This year twenty one (21) Texas cities have been recognized as 2019 Certified Scenic city award recipients, with only five – including Richmond- earning the Platinum level certification. The City of Richmond is proud to be recognized as a Platinum Scenic City for their standing with 82 other certified cities across Texas existing as communities working to make a more scenic Texas for citizens and visitors.
